Symposium to discuss critical role of health promotion

A symposium to discuss and develop solutions to current and future challenges and opportunities faced by health promotion will be held on Ngunnawal Country, Australia from Oct 9 - 10.

Organised by the Australian Health Promotion Association (AHPA) the event features an impressive lineup of keynote

HPF's Executive Director Sione Tu'itahi

speakers including HPF’s Executive Director Sione Tu’itahi.

“The symposium is another opportunity to enhance our close work relationship with AHPA and other co-workers in Australia and the wider Pacific region,” says Sione, who will also be part of a health promotion agencies panel

“The focus is on workforce development, particularly on the one system to accredit health promoters across the world.

"As nations we all face the same poly-crisis of geo-political conflicts, ineffective economic systems that drive inequities across the world,  environmental calamities, and pandemics. We need to build a health promotion workforce that is fit for purpose and be able to address these structural determinants of health.”

The symposium will bring together health promotion practitioners who will hear from thought leaders and participate in a dialogue on the conditions that shape health and wellbeing for our people, places, and planet.

Aligned with AHPA’s strategic directions, the theme emphasises the critical role of the health promotion sector in achieving a healthy, equitable Australia. Recognising the global and local imperative for bold health promotion action, which is needed now more than ever, the event will focus on key pillars of equity, innovation, workforce, and collaboration.

There is also an option for virtual attendance which will be available for plenary sessions only.
