Call for papers for Ottawa 40th special collection
2026 marks the 40th anniversaries of both the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion and Health Promotion International (HPI).
To celebrate, HPI’s founding editor Ilona Kickbusch (one of the key architects of the Ottawa Charter) and current editor-in-chief Samantha Thomas have launched the Ottawa Charter at 40 Special Collection. (Watch Samantha's interview
with IIona on YouTube.)
Over the coming months the leading journal in the field of health promotion will be releasing an open access special collection of 40:
- Editorials
- Global case studies
- Interviews with prominent thought leaders
Together, these contributions will reflect on the Charter’s achievements and the future of health promotion.

Reorienting health services
and/or with relation to the basic principles:
- Advocate
- Enable
- Mediate
