New level 2 online courses now available

HPF is pleased to announce that two new level 2 online health promotion courses are 'now live'. 

Whether you're looking to deepen your knowledge of Pacific health promotion or explore the vital intersections of human and planetary wellbeing, these advanced courses will help you take the next step in your professional development.

The courses are self-directed through the online experience platform iQualify, which is user-friendly and has a wealth of technical support available to help you learn to navigate your way around or to resolve any issues.  

While not accredited, the courses are matched to the NZQA framework and are aligned to the Certificate of Achievement in introducing Health Promotion (CoA) jointly offered by HPF and MIT. 

The courses are:

Planetary Health

Advance your health promotion knowledge through the lens of planetary health and Indigenous knowledge systems. This course connects health, the environment, and wellbeing, using frameworks like the Geneva Charter for Well-being to shape real-world action.

In completing this course, you will be able to: 

  • Understand planetary health as a new field in health.
  • Understand the foundations of health promotion and planetary health in New Zealand.
  • Understand the contributions of Indigenous Knowledge to planetary health through health promotion.
  • Understand the Geneva Charter, especially its contribution to planetary health, and its focus on "well-being societies" from a health promotion lens.

Pacific Health Promotion Models

Take your understanding of Pacific health promotion to the next level. In this four-module course, you'll learn to apply the Fonua Ola model to support the health and wellbeing of Pacific communities in Aotearoa New Zealand. Includes interactive content, cultural context, and practical applications.

In completing this course, you will be able to: 

  • Understand the history of Pacific peoples in Aotearoa New Zealand.
  • Understand the evolution of Pacific health promotion. 
  • Discuss what a health promotion model is.
  • Explore how to apply Fonua Ola in your practice.
