HPF's deputy ED first Māori woman on global IUHPE Board
HPF proudly acknowledges the presence of our Deputy Executive Director Leanne Eruera as the first Māori (and New Zealand) woman on the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) Global Board at the recent board meeting in Tiohtià:ke Montreal, Canada.
Elected to the Board six months ago, Leanne’s participation in this meeting marks an important milestone for Aotearoa New Zealand and for Indigenous representation in global health promotion leadership.

Leanne said the meeting was a valuable opportunity to connect, plan, and reflect on the work ahead.
‘I’m grateful to be part of a board that brings such insight, passion, and shared purpose to advancing our goals. Governance is often the guiding compass behind meaningful change, and the meeting reminded me of the importance of strong leadership, shared values, and purposeful action. It’s about shaping the future together with integrity and intention.’
Leanne’s contribution ensures that Māori perspectives continue to shape global dialogue and decisions on health equity and wellbeing.
A sign of leadership, wisdom, and collective progress.
